Linking The Dead With The Living

A Saratoga Springs, New York medium says her specials gifts allow her to connect you with loved ones who have crossed over.

Since the age of three, Georgia (Czechowicz) O’Connor has been conversing with the dead. As a youngster, the Amsterdam native did not question what she was hearing. She merely communicated with all of the people around her as a matter of course.

It wasn’t until she hosted a sleepover with some of her six-year-old classmates that she became painfully aware that not everyone she saw and heard could likewise be seen and heard by her friends.

Before O’Connor embraced her paranormal talents she would often be contacted by persistent ghosts who had messages for their loved ones. They would “stalk” O’Connor, much like the fictitious ghosts on the CBS primetime television series Ghost Whisperer who relentlessly pursue character Melinda Gordon, played by Jennifer Love Hewitt, until she agrees to intercede on their behalf with a living loved one or acquaintance.

“I would sometimes find myself knocking on the door of a stranger to give them a message from the dead. Sometimes the person on the other side of the door was receptive and other times they’d hold their hands up in the sign of the cross and tell me that Satan sent me,” she said.

But once she came to terms with her psychic gift, she agreed to do readings for family and friends. It didn’t take long for word to get out about her accuracy.

O’Connor currently has clients on five continents.

The personality of a dead loved one often comes through loud and clear in a reading, which is further validation that we survive the grave, O’Connor said.

That fact alone is often what gives her clients immense comfort and restores their hope.

One of the most memorable cases for O’Connor was of a woman who lost her only son. His violent death was so traumatic for the woman that she decided she no longer wanted to live.

“She had been severely disabled in a car accident years before his death. And he was her only family. I did a reading for her and she was able to connect with him. He told her he was well and that he knew she was plotting her suicide. And then he explained how she planned to go about it step by step,” O’Connor said. “He told her he didn’t want her to kill herself.”

O’Connor saw the woman several more times after the initial reading and was amazed at the transformation. The validation that her son was still in her life and very much aware of what was going on, and the fact that he was happy and well, enabled the grieving woman to find peace and even begin to feel joy about living.

O’Connor can also connect with pets that have died.

“When our pets pass over they are still very much a part of our lives, too. Love doesn’t die and our loved ones are very much a part of our daily lives. People don’t need a medium to talk to their dead loved ones because they hear everything you say to them. But hearing what they have to say back to us is where I come in.”

O’Connor moved to Texas in 2002 and began raising a family. She recently moved back to Saratoga County, New York, to be with her parents after her father was diagnosed with cancer.
