Not Quite Haunted - Maybe

by John Hacker and David Hoover
The Kendrick House is the subject of an ongoing study to contact as many spirits as possible at the home.

Rattling chains and floating white sheets may not be filling the air, but spooky things are going on at the Kendrick House in Carthage, Missouri.

A group of paranormal investigators spent several hours Saturday at the pre-Civil War home on North Garrison Street using digital recorders, low-light cameras and other electronic gadgets to search for evidence of unusual activity - and they found it.

“Tonight we found a spirit named Robert,” said Patches Isula, a medium with the Branson Paranormal Research Society. “Robert is his first name, but I call him Mr. Robert out of respect. I’d say he was alive in the late 1800s. I could see him in a black suit and vest with an old watch hanging out of his pocket. He looked very dignified.

“Also we went upstairs and used the K-2 meter to communicate with a little girl. We got her to respond and actually got her to play a game with us.”

A K-2 meter is a device used to record and measure electromagnetic energy.

Isula and her husband, Sonny, were two of seven people with the Branson Paranormal Society who visited the Kendrick House on Saturday.

Patches Isula said this was her third trip to the Kendrick House, which was built from 1849-1854 by the Rankin Family out of bricks made by slave labor.

The house survived the Civil War, which saw Jasper County turned into a battleground and most structures in Carthage burned to the ground.

Patches Isula said the house is the subject of an ongoing study by the paranormal group to contact as many spirits as possible at the home.

She said she has personally contacted as many as eight spirits in the house, and the spirits of a number of soldiers outside the home.

Isula said in a previous visit, a spirit left a musket ball in her vehicle. She said she’s felt the spirits of soldiers tugging at her feet as she stood in the backyard of the Kendrick House.

Patches Isula said the house doesn’t actually qualify as haunted.

“Most of the time we don’t call a house haunted unless someone has seen a physical presence, unless someone sees an apparition or hears voices,” Isula said. “We’ve recorded paranormal activity on our K-2 recorder and I’ve contacted spirits, but we haven’t had any physical manifestations.”

Participants

Others participating in Saturday’s search at the Kendrick House were Teresa Wagner, Springfield, a member of the Turnback Creek Paranormal Group; Sunny Isula, husband of Patches Isula, Branson West and member of the Branson Paranormal Society; Lydia Beavers, Mount Vernon, a psychic; Debbie Forrester, Springfield, head of the Turnback Creek Paranormal Group and the Southwest Missouri Coalition for Ghost Hunters; Robert Crawford, Springfield, member of the Turnback Creek Paranormal Group and Adam Spindle, Springfield, member of the Ozarks Paranormal Research and Investigations Group.

Here’s an explanation of all things paranormal or metaphysical in nature:
.
All metaphysical phenomena (all) are characteristics, traits, abilities or experiences of our spiritual nature, emanating from our souls.
.
The reasons we are so confused by the variety of metaphysical/spiritual phenomena is because religions, primarily Christianity, especially the Roman Catholic Church, banned most of our important spiritual abilities and traits as “heretical,’ “demonic,” or “no longer occurring.”
.
I’ve just completed a trilogy of books jointly entitled Awakening The Soul explaining the history behind this suppression, and providing a channeled method to overcome it. These books posit four things:
.
1. All “metaphysical phenomena” (also described as paranormal phenomena, psi, psychic event, parapsychology, etc.) is actually our spiritual nature at work.
.
2. Religions suppressed our spiritual nature by making almost everything metaphysical off-limits, sinful or evil, and intimidated science into not investigating metaphysical phenomena (our spiritual nature) under the penalty of death
.
3. This led to our current confusion and ignorance about our spiritual nature, with most of us thinking it is something outside ourselves, while in truth it is really our internal spiritual nature in action.
.
4. I provide remarkable spiritual tools to restore that spiritual nature, in Christian terms.
.
Book One: Proof of Our Spiritual Nature presents more than 80 differing examples of our metaphysical/spiritual nature, and explains 10 of them in depth.
.
Book 2: Our Suppressed Spiritual Nature reveals why we lost awareness of our spiritual nature, primarily through religious suppression for the last 2000 years.
.
Book 3:  Restoring Your Spiritual Nature is a primarily channeled text providing exercises to restore our spiritual nature.  It includes startling directions on how to reprogram the ego, and assign the Soul to be in charge of all our daily activities.  It has been called “The key to the 12th Step” of AA and other addiction programs because it provides the necessary spiritual awakening.
.
Awakening The Soul: The Trilogy is now available, containing all three volumes in one 725-page reduced price text, with hundreds of new facts and enhancements.
